DIY Friday! Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

Happy DIY Friday! My neice's second birthday is tomorrow and she loves Mickey Mouse. It's my official job to make the birthday cakes for my 3 neices, so I'm making some Mickey Cupcakes for Miss Nora. Not exactly weddings, but really fun!

Isn't she precious? I cannot get enough of her curls!

All  you need is:

-Regular and mini oreos

-Cupcakes (I made chocolate with vanilla buttercream)

-mickey cupcake holders

Once you have baked and iced your cupcakes open the oreos (2 mini and 1 regular).

Don't worry, you can dunk the other half in milk :) Place them on as the head and ears and press down.

You are all set!

This is our fail proof butter cream icing recipe:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter  softened (you could use shortening if you want it really white)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (our favorite) 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar (approximately 1 lb.)
  • 2 tablespoons milk
In mixer, cream butter and vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, on medium speed. . Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy. Keep bowl covered with a damp cloth until ready to use.

Happy DIY Friday and Happy 2nd Birthday Nora!
