Wedding Tip Thursday! Gift for Parents

It’s common for the Bride and Groom to present gifts to both sets of parents during the rehearsal dinner. I often find couples are at a loss for what to give – they want something sentimental but not too sappy; a gift that shows gratitude but is also something to cherish as a keepsake. One of my favorite suggestions for this occasion is a tree for planting in the parent’s yard. What better way to celebrate the fact that you are expanding your family tree while setting down roots with one another as a couple? The symbolism is beautiful and it is a wonderful memory as you watch the tree grow and remember when and why it was presented. Add a handwritten note tied to the tree letting them know how treasured they are and what a joy it is to have them as part of your family tree. Use one of the quotes below to close the note or perhaps read it as you give the gift at the rehearsal for the perfect finishing touch!

"In every conceivable manner, family is the link to our past, bridge to our future."

– Alex Haley

"Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family."

– Anthony Brandt

"When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses."

–Joyce Brothers

"What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life — to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories."

– George Eliot
