Merideth + Edwin | Festive Mountain Wedding | Asheville Wedding
When a bride comes to us dreaming up a wedding day full of bright colors and a fusion of two deep rooted heritages, we can't help but get excited! Merideth + Edwin wanted a day that brought two families together as one, his family from Guatemala and hers from South Carolina. Although there were many difference between the places they grew up, one thing is for certain, both families knew hospitality and wanted their guests to have a fantastic time celebrating M+E!
The bride and groom selected a location that was dear to their hearts, and coincidentally, mine. Edwin is a minister for the Presbyterian Church and it was important that this be incorporated in their wedding plans. They chose a beautiful spot nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Gaither Chapel (which also happens to be in my home town and the place where my husband and I were married 4 years ago)! Aside from incorporating all the vivacious colors that are so much a part of Latin American culture, it was also important to Merideth that music was a key part of the day. She is a enormously talented artist of the Oboe and is a professor at North Carolina School of the Arts
Merideth hand selected a few close musician friends and talented artists to perform an elegant prelude for all her guests. Even though we had her tucked away before her walk down the aisle, she wanted to be able to hear the music that was so dear to her heart!
Can we talk about how precious these happy floral headbands are on the flower girls! They all felt like little princesses.
This by far goes down as one of the best recessionals I have ever been a part of. We brought in a authentic Gospel Choir from Charleston, South Carolina to surprise guests and litter sing the couple out of the chapel. "Oh Happy Day" could be heard throughout Montreat as Merideth and Edwin walked out into the spring sunshine as a newly married couple!
The reception design was all about vibrancy and happy colors. Blending varying shades of coral, orange, fuchsia, and rich greenery with pop of gold the rustic barn was transformed into a elevated and bright reception space. Guests were invited to enjoy a truly fusion menu of Southern and Latin favorites, signature cocktails in vintage colored glassware, and sounds of a fantastic Cuban band.
The inspiration for the color palate was pulled from custom made runners that Edwin's mother brought from her native Guatemala. They accented the farm tables that were mixed into the design plan.
It was such a blast planning with these two love birds! Thank you to the team of vendors that made it happen!
