Bridal Fashion: The Groomsmen | By Erin McLean Events

Happy Monday everyone! We are excited to share the next instalment in our bridal fashion series. Originally this was going to combine both groomsmen and bridesmaids fashion, but we figured that we will do them separately so that we can pack as many photos in as possible.

Keep in mind that no matter the style, theme or formality of your wedding, it is important to have some cohesion so that people can discern the bridal party from the guests. This will also look better in photos. Most of the time the groomsmen will match the bridesmaids which will tie into the florals or color scheme of the wedding.

Before you choose the colors, you can also discuss how formal you want the groomsmen to be and what you would like them to wear. Tux, khakis, ties, bowties, vest, suspenders? Suspenders are making a huge comeback and we love it!

Like what you see? Don"t forget to PIN it for later!

This groom and his groomsmen have the same suits and boutonnieres. The groom has the same color tie, but with a design on it and brown shoes instead of black. This is a classic look that is cohesive and formal.

This is another classic look with everyone in the same colored suits. The groomsmen share the same bow ties and boutonnieres, whereas the groom has a different color bow tie, boutonniere and shoe color to make him stand out.

This is a more laid-back look where it is more difficult to discern who, if everybody, is in the bridal party. There is a mix of ties and bow ties, one person is wearing suspenders and one person is wearing a vest. We love the khaki pants with the navy ties and bow ties that match the groom"s suit, but we all agree that it is difficult to say whether they are all groomsmen.

We said suspenders are back! We love these groomsmen with their charcoal pants, light blue shirts and black and yellow suspenders. To tie in the yellow, all of the groomsmen have yellow boutonnieres. The groom looks great in a skinny tie, which matches the groomsmen"s pants, and light grey suit.

This is another formal bridal party that uses a different color suit for the groomsmen. They also have pink bow ties that match the bridesmaid outfits and all of the guys, including the groom, have white boutonnieres.

Bring on the suspenders and the funky bow ties! This rad group of groomsmen all have grey pants, white shirts, black suspenders and yellow boutonnieres. Then they all have different colors and prints for their bow ties. This is definitely a unique and more informal look, but we love it!

This group of groomsmen and a reminder not to forget the small, fun things that can make your groomsmen unique. All of the groomsmen are wearing the same pants, shirts, suspenders, bow ties and boutonnieres - but they are all wearing different striped socks. The groom is in the same color, but with a jacket, a tie and a different color boutonniere. We think this is an awesome look!

This is back to a more formal look with black suits. We think that having bridesmaids and groomsmen in black looks so classic and fashionable. The groom is wearing a different color tie and a pocket square to make him stand out.

This is an example of a really fun, laid back bunch of groomsmen. The dark grey pants with the patterned shirts and ties with beige suspenders looks very cool and put together. Taking this chance can also be a disaster, be sure that if you are going for a mismatched look that there is still some cohesion and that someone helps to ensure that it is stylishly mismatched, not a fashion faux pas!

This is another mismatched bunch of groomsmen. As you will see in next week"s post, it is a trend for bridesmaids to wear different color dresses, or have the same color, but different shades. This can look very good. Just be sure that if you do this, that somehow the groomsmen and bridesmaids still look good together. We really like the different shades of suits in this bridal party with the cohesive element being the bow tie. The groom has a different boutonniere to help distinguish him.

Here is another formal group of groomsmen, all in the same color suit. They all have the same colored tie and boutonniere. The groom has a matching bow tie and it looks like he may be wearing a grey vest under his jacket. This is a very clean look with a pop of fun and color with the ties.

Here is another example of having your groomsmen in different shades or colors. Navy, charcoal and light grey look good together as the bow tie features those colors and ties everything together. These groomsmen also wore fun socks, which makes a great picture for the wedding album!

This is a great looking style for the groomsmen and the groom. We love the dark suits with the groom in a light suit and a dark tie. This look is classic and cool and looks great in photos!

Here is another example of mismatched patterns. Keeping the pants the same and the color scheme for shirts and accessories the same helps to keep everything looking more cohesive.

Here is a great look that is more casual but still looks classic. Grey pants and white button ups for the groomsmen will look great in pictures, plus it is easy to have any accents if you choose accessories like suspenders or colored boutonnieres. Leaving it simple also looks really good, which is what they have done here. The groom has a grey vest and tie on which looks handsome and more formal.

We love how it has become more common for people to stray from the all black look. As much as we love all black, we think that when you are working with certain colors, in this example orangey, salmon-colored ties, the beige suit looks really good paired with that color tie. Don"t be afraid to match your colors with something other than black, we think this look is so dashing!

Look at those grey suits! In this photo it is hard to tell what is different about the groom to make him stand out, but we can tell that his groomsmen are wearing the same suits, with bow ties and the same boutonniere. We think the pop of yellow looks really great in contrast to the navy and grey.

Here are some more ideas if you like the mismatched look. From this photo it seems that the groom has the blue shirt with the large, purple boutonniere and the groomsmen have a taupe shirt with different grey jackets. The boutonnieres are different for all of the groomsmen, but the unifying feature is the totally cool chevron print peeking out of all of their pockets.

This bridal party is an example of everyone matching. The dresses match the vests, which match the ties and the boutonnieres  We like that a biege suit was chosen instead of black. It really tones down the yellow. This is a great look for a beach wedding. This wil give you a good idea if you like the matched look more or less than a mismatched look.

Here is an example of another matching bridal party. They are less matchy than the last one, but if you still think you like the matching look, this one is great. The pink ties work really well with the great suits and is a subtle element that ties in with the bridesmaid dresses. We think these are beautiful colors and that it looks really good.

Like a preppier look? We love these salmon-colored pants with the navy jackets. We also love how the bride"s father wore the same outfit. The colors look really great with the bride"s bouquet and work well, although this may not be everyone"s cup of tea.
